Avers - Wergenstein
At an altitude of 2,126 meters, Juf is the highest town in the Alps that is inhabited all year round. Especially in winter, the area in the upper Aver Valley is hard to beat in terms of idyll: between the rustic wooden houses there are farms with steaming piles of dung, a few cows tramp around chewing in front of the stable doors and occasionally you can hear the cackling of stray chickens in the village. Steep snow slopes rise up on both sides of the narrow valley, often disappearing beneath rocky peaks at the 3000m mark. At the far end of the valley sits the mighty Piz Turba, the coveted destination of many ski mountaineers. But other beautiful destinations or even a trip to Italy are also possible.
In the middle of the week we will change our domicile to Schamserberg. We go on beautiful ski tours from Wergenstein at the Hotel Capricorns. Piz Beverin, Piz Tarantschun, Runal, Bruschghorn, or Zwölfihorn are popular tour destinations on our doorstep. After the tour, we regenerate in "la Cauma" in the hotel, or visit the ibex exhibition in the "Center da Capricorns", which is also the headquarters of the Beverin Nature Park.
