Rheinwaldhorn - Adula
A ski tour on the Rheinwaldhorn, the origin of the Hinterrhein.
The Rheinwaldhorn, called Adula in Ticino, is the highest peak in the Adula Alps at 3,402 meters. Located in the central main Alpine ridge between the Lukmanier Pass and San Bernardino, the mountain dominates the border area between Graubünden and Ticino and forms the point of contact between the Italian, German and Romansh languages in the Alpine region.
In winter, the Länta hut SAC (Vals) and the Zapport hut (Hinterrhein) offer ideal starting points for an easy to demanding climb. There are various routes, but they always require full glacier equipment. We choose the most optimal climb depending on the conditions.
In late winter and spring, the Rheinwaldhorn is a top-class ski mountain. The north and east sides in particular offer long runs well into spring over wide powder slopes or snow slopes, which, like the Läntagletscher, reach down to the bottom of the valley.
It can best be combined with a 3 - 4 day ski tour in the Hinterrhein to Vals or Ticino with other ski touring peaks.
