Tinzenhorn/ Corn da Tinizung

The Tinzenhorn, called "Corn da Tinizung" in Surmiran, is a mountain east of Savognin. It is remnants of the Dolomites that make up these layered formations. Piz Ela, for example, is the second highest Dolomite peak (after Marmolada) in the entire Alps. Fossilised footprints of dinosaurs have been found on the Tinzenhorn. The Tinzenhorn is a slender, boldly rising spire of almost Gothic appearance, whose four walls drop down in partly torn walls.
It has more challenging climbing routes on the Verbuindungsgrat to Piz Mitgel as well as on the south face.

Our tour starts in Savognin. As a day tour, you have to reckon with about 5 hours of ascent and about 3 hours of descent along the ridge. This results in a long day tour from the valley, with climbing difficulties in the range of 4a. Walking in rough terrain and surefootedness is a prerequisite.
The panoramic view over Switzerland's largest regional park "Parc Ela" is rewarding. A stop at Anita's Alpbeizli is of course a given.
